Managing Partner

Oluwole Afolabi 

The Principal Partner of the firm Oluwole Afolabi was called to the Nigerian Bar in December, 1993 after a successful completion of the Barrister at Law (B.L.) program at the Nigerian Law School in which he clinched a Second Class (Upper Division) degree. Mr. Afolabi has two Masters of Laws (LL.M.) degrees. The first of the degrees came from Obafemi Awolowo University, where he emerged as the Best Graduating Student in the LL.M. class, while the second came from the University of London, with a specialization in International Business Law.

Mr. Afolabi sat for and passed the New York Bar Examination in July, 1999. He was admitted to the practice of law in New York in May, 2000. He is also a Notary Public in New York. Mr. Afolabi is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of London.

Mr. Afolabi was at various times a lawyer in the following law offices in Nigeria – Akeredolu (SAN) & Olujinmi (SAN); Chief Adetunji Fadayiro (SAN) & Co and Layi Afolabi & Co.

He worked at a number of big law firms in New York, including Chadbourne & Parke; Dewey Ballantine LLP, and Constatine Cannon LLP, before setting up the Law Offices of Oluwole Afolabi.

Mr. Afolabi is married with kids.

Partner

Chief Layi Afolabi

Chief Layi Afolabi who was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1971 served as “Of Counsel” to the firm. Chief Afolabi served meritoriously as a Chief Magistrate in the Oyo State Judiciary from 1976 to 1983. He also served at various times as either a member of, or chairman of a number of Election Tribunals in Oyo State in the 90s.

Chief Afolabi’s wide ranging experience in litigation and corporate practices are of immense value to the firm.

Associate

Michael Olawale

Michael is an Associate at the firm. He is a 2003 graduate of Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU). He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in October, 2004.

Mr. Olawale was a lawyer in the law firm of Bonajo Badejo (SAN) & Co. from 2006 to 2008. He later worked in the legal department of Bamah Nissi Multi-Links Limited, a property management and construction company before joining the Law Offices of Oluwole Afolabi. He is a student member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Nigeria (ICSAN).

Associate

Oluronke Basorun

Oluronke is a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University where she obtained her L.L.B. degree and later her B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. She worked in the law firm of M.A.Banire & Associates from 2009 to 2010.

She is a member of the Association of Professional Negotiators and Mediators.
